HAYDN: 'The Creation'

All Saints Chorus and Orchestra

Conductor: Jon Cullen

Soprano: Lucy Farrimond

Tenor: Bene't Coldstream

Bass: Alistair Kirk

On Sunday 30th June 2024, I made my St. John's Smith Square debut performing in Haydn's masterpiece 'The Creation' with All Saints Chorus and Orchestra.

This piece has always been a favourite of mine, since performing in the chorus for my 'Chetham's School of Music' end of year concert in 2017, to performing in the chorus (and as the finale step-out soloist!) at the BBC Proms in 2018 with the BBC Philharmonic. It feels as though things have happily come around full circle, with myself now taking on the iconic soprano solo role. My younger self would be very happy indeed!

To those unfamiliar with the work, the soprano role includes two stunning arias 'With Verdure Clad' and 'On Mighty Pens', alongside various beautiful duets and trios. It was a joy to work with conductor Jon Cullen again and to meet fellow soloists, Bene't Coldstream and Alistair Kirk. This was my third time performing as a soloist with All Saints Chorus and Orchestra and I am always impressed with the dedication, enthusiasm and friendliness of the ensemble.

I look forward to working with them again in the future - watch this space!

Lucy
